Trump proves Parasite's success

And the award for the dimmest politician goes to...

Is it just me or does Trump's life seem to consist of him standing in front of big crowds and rallies, saying what's on his mind like he's some kind of stand-up comedian?

It could be argued that he's a failed comic and maybe if we see his presidency as just a bad joke, maybe it will make it all okay?

His latest "joke" aimed at the Academy Awards might be his best and one of his most infuriating yet, especially for film fans.

His comment made at a Colorado rally sparked the attention of many film outlets on the web, as he questioned the decision of The Academy for choosing a film made in South Korea, asking "what the hell was that?"

“We got enough problems with South Korea with trade. On top of that, they give them best movie of the year? Was it good? I don’t know. Let’s get ‘Gone With the Wind.’ Can we get ‘Gone With the Wind’ back, please?”

The company that distributed the film- Neon, joked that Trump likely couldn't read the subtitles, which is most probably true, but his comment also seems to suggest that he's not even aware of what the film is about. The great irony of Parasite's message on social class is only fueled by a character such as Trump.

2019 was a year that saw many films make massive strides in their messages concerning class, oppression, and society.

Parasite depicts the lives of a family literally living below others, scraping together whatever food, work and utilities they can get their hands on.

The household our characters find employment with are the literal opposite of them, living a lavish lifestyle, where money is not an issue. So what bigger parallel can you have alongside them, than Donald Trump? The man famously given a small loan of only a million dollars...

Audiences and critics have clearly clung to these socially impactful films, with Joker also demonstrating the effects oppression can have on an individual.

Trump's comment comes with a tension almost like that, which comes at the famous interview scene at the end of Joker. With Trump as Murray Franklin, and film fans looking on furiously as Arthur Fleck did before his horrific decision to resort to violence.

Donald Trump's opinions not only show his dated views when clinging to the likes of Gone with the Wind but also the struggle foreign cinema has had and will continue to face when opening audiences to look past politics and borders to experience something new.

At-least it made Obama's favourites of 2019.
