'Guess who just got back today? Them wild-eyed boys that had been away, haven't changed, that much to say. But, man, I still think them cats are crazy’
The first four lines of Thin Lizzy’s ‘The Boys are Back in Town’ seems a very fitting way to describe Amazon Prime’s The Boys, doesn’t it? Those cats are crazy and very soon will be back on our screens, and here at Fresh Take we think that’s purrfect.
Since making its debut on Amazon Prime Video last year, fans have been beckoning for the return of the second wave of the crude superhero series, The Boys.
Good news, everyone! (Professor Farnsworth would be proud). The Boys will be back for a second series and has been announced to return on September 4, 2020.
Who knows, maybe we'll even see Billy Butcher personally open a can of whoop-ass on the coronavirus? Making it go away, and disappear, just like Translucent.
Sadly, this won’t happen, but you can expect Billy and the boys to bring the fight to the corporate-controlled super chumps, The Seven.
Earlier this week Amazon Prime Video released an extended teaser of the series and let's just say it looks to be worth the wait.
Here are seven reasons to be happy The Boys are back in town.
Stormfall
We can confirm that Stormfall is not the sequel to Skyfall but can tell you that Stormfront is the newest member of The Seven and is played by actress Aya Cash. It looks like Stormfront is certainly going to be ruffling some feathers as she enters the fold. The neo-Nazi looked pretty explosive from the new teaser clip. Will she threaten Homelander's leadership? Watch this space. Or, in this case, watch this front.
The Gory, but oh-so-beautiful fight scenes.
Viewer discretion is advised - we get a strange feeling that The Boys series two is going to have some jaw-dropping moments (literally). Plus, if the trailer is anything to go by, then you’re going to need a sick bucket, new eyes, and maybe a priest.
Top gore moments from series one -
Hughie getting covered in his dead girlfriend's flesh and blood.
Hughie getting covered in Translucent's dead flesh and blood.
That Popclaw scene…
Giancarlo Esposito
The former Breaking Bad star was exceptional in the series one finale as Vought CEO Mr Edgar. We think Giancarlo Esposito is going to be playing a much bigger part this time around, and the Hollywood starlet is bound to steal the show.
Black Noir - will the mystery be revealed?
Who is Black Noir? A very scary person who you don’t want to mess with. The masked vigilante had no dialogue in series one - but will this change in the new season?
If the teaser clips are anything to go by, then we are in for a treat.
Seth Rogan is an executive producer
The fact that Seth Rogan is an executive producer on the show is pretty cool. The guy is a superhero to the movie world, or is he Superbad? It all depends on your opinion of him and his films. But, either way, the show has got a man that has dedicated the majority of his career to comedy.
Rogan has started to make that shift from acting to producing, and it’s going well for him so far. The Boys is one of the crudest series on Amazon Prime Video, and we’re sure that Rogan's influence will continue to add to this, as it has undoubtedly before.
The Boys are back in town
Why are we glad that the boys are back in town? Well, it’s pretty simple, The Boys are back in town.
We get to see Billy, Hughie, Frenchie, Mother’s Milk, and the simply titled- The Female on our screens once again. The Boys just has that ability to get you excited, and you can’t help yourself but be captured by it’s diverse and robust characters.
The Deep
Does anybody know ‘psyche!’ in dolphin?
Honestly, we can’t wait for The Boys to make its return. The release format is going to be slightly different from the first season. This time around episodes will be released on a weekly basis with the first three episodes debuting on September 4th and then once a week until October 9, 2020.
The Boys is the exact type of comic-book madness we have missed during lockdown, especially with cinemas closed, so could be their time to shine more than ever? Let us know if you are excited for The Boys, and what you most enjoy about the series in the comments!
